Want the big wins? It’s the small steps, sustained over time, that make all the difference.
This principle is a cornerstone for me, and this time of year always reminds me of its power.
In my 30s and early 40s, fall meant marathon season. That meant August and September were intense training months, and October was all about avoiding injury, staying healthy and getting in those last long runs.
I learned that crossing the finish line under my goal time to the cheers of family and friends (then enjoying post-race pizza and beer at my cousin’s bar!) may happen on race day, but it’s the drudgery of a months-long training program of early morning track workouts, hills and long runs, no matter the weather, that makes that experience possible.
What small steps will you commit to taking consistently for the next 8 weeks to achieve a big win this year?
