I recently spent two days in a business retreat with an amazing group of rule-bending (even some rule-breaking) women entrepreneurs. These women all challenge the status quo in their work and in their lives.
Even with that general mindset, during a problem-solving exercise on day one, many of us fell prey to assumed rules or self-imposed rules and barriers. Because we assumed there were rules that didn’t exist in this exercise, we got stuck. We couldn’t complete the assignment, made it much harder than it needed to be and/or produced sub-optimal solutions.
Are you guilty of this?
Do you stay stuck because you assume limitations or rules that don’t exist? What solutions are right in front of you that you’re just not seeing?
What opportunities do you have this week to act rather than wait?
